Mrs. Bouayach launches training session for staff and members of the National Human Rights Commission of Mauritania

Mrs. Amina Bouayach, Chairperson of the National Human Rights Council (CNDH) and Mr. Ahmed Salem Ould Bouhbeni, President of the National Human Rights Commission of Mauritania, launched a training session, on Monday 5 July 2021, for members and staff of the National Human Rights Commission of Mauritania.

This event is part of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two institutions, which aims to build capacities and share experiences and knowledge between them.  It will be held on 5 and 6 July 2021.

In the opening session of this event, the CNDH Chairperson emphasized that this session is part of the cooperation between the two institutions. The CNDH and the Mauritanian Commission are engaged to implement every requirement of their MoU which was signed in January 2021 to address several common issues.

For his part, Mr. Ould Bouhbeni underlined that the Mauritanian National Human Rights Commission is expecting this training to be an opportunity for their staff and members to enhance their knowledge on the Moroccan human rights experiences and the CNDH mandate related to the protection and promotion of human rights.

The program of this training session will mainly focus on: “General introduction to the CNDH: evolution, structure and mandates”, “CNDH interaction with the international system for the protection of human rights”, “Human rights protection: Monitoring, visiting places of deprivation of liberty and handling complaints”, and “Ways to handle complaints through technology”.

The National Human Rights Commission of Mauritania was established in 2006. It is an independent advisory body. It conducts human rights protection and promotion missions. It is an institution accredited with “A” status by the Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions (GANHRI).
