COMMUNITY REPARATION: ORGANIZATION OF MEDICAL CARAVAN IN ANERGUI COMMUNE - PROVINCE OF AZILAL

An initiative that aimed to promote economic, social and cultural rights, mainly the right to health

In implementation of the Community Reparation Program, the delegation of the Ministry of Health in the province of Azilal, organized a medical caravan in Douar Koussa in the Commune of Anergui, Azilal, on 25 and 26 June 2011.

This caravan was organized in partnership with the local authorities, the association of diabetes and Azilal Rural Council. It was recommended by the local coordination of the Community Reparation Program during the coordination’s meeting last April. It aimed to consolidate reconciliation in the region and improve health situation of the target population. It aimed to promote economic, social and cultural rights, mainly the right to health.

Under the Program, the medical centers of Taguleft and Zaouiat Ahensal rural communes were supplied, in May 2011, with two scanners. Training sessions were organized for health officers in this field.

During its mandate, the Moroccan truth commission (IER) proposed the Community Reparation Program for collective reparation in the regions that were affected by the past gross human rights violations. The ultimate objective of the Program is to achieve reconciliation and restore trust and confidence of the State and its institutions.

Implemented by the National Human Rights Council (CNDH), the Community Reparation Program aims to realize a number of projects and contribute to the development of the targeted areas and preserve memory. It aims to entrench the spirit of collective reparation and achieve local governance through supporting and strengthening capacities of local actors.

The Program targets several provinces and communes: Al Hoceima, Azilal, Errachidia, Figuig, Hay Mohammadi-Ain-Sbaa (Casablanca), Khemisset, Khenifra, Nador, Ouarzazate, Tan Tan and Zagora.

Projects realized within the framework of the Program revolve around four main axes: capacity building of local actors, positive preservation of memory, improvement of standards of living (services, open-up, income generating activities and environmental protection) and promotion of women and children’s situations.
