Message from the CNDH Chairperson to members of the GANHRI
Ms. Amina Bouayach, President of the National Human Rights Council (CNDH) delivered a message of solidarity and support to colleagues from the Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions (GANHRI) as part of sharing good practices related to the protection of human rights in health emergencies.
In her message, the CNDH Chairperson shed light on values of solidarity, compassion, mutual aid and altruism that have emerged while combating the spread of this virus. Ms. Bouayach also underlined the resulting changes of this unprecedented event on peoples’ lives and humanity, hitherto confident in its fixed models.
“One of the first observations to be drawn from the dramatic events we are going through is the multiplication of messages of compassion and support, through which we have been able to overcome the cleavages, go beyond expectations, inspire action, and bring about fundamental and ancestral values of Moroccan society, including those of altruism, solidarity and national mutual aid”, she said.
The CNDH Chairperson also underlined the importance of “the sense of the values of solidarity, compassion, the collective instead of the individual” to deal with this virus. “We are therefore in the midst of a pivotal moment in the history of humanity, which has found itself obliged to review its behavior and revise its philosophy”, she indicated.
At the same time, Ms. Bouayach highlighted the necessary prevention measures taken by the CNDH for its staff, as well as its actions in terms of awareness-raising, complaints handling, monitoring, protection of rights, in particular those of vulnerable groups.
The message of the CNDH President was published in the platform established by the GANHRI to share good practices of its 122 National human rights institutions (NHRIs). This platform aims to ensure NHRIs’ protection mission in the exceptional circumstances of health emergency.
