Mr Taieb Fassi Fihri

Mr Taieb Fassi Fihri was born on April 9, 1958 in Casablanca.

Mr Fassi Fihri got the diploma of ingenieur d’application de la statistique (applications engineer in statistics) from the National Institute for Statistics and Applied Economy (INSEA) in Rabat (1980).

In 1981, he obtained a maîtrise diploma in public economy and planning from the University of Panthéon-Sorbonne, Paris. In 1984, he got a PhD in analysis and economic policy from the Paris-based Institut d’études politiques.

From 1983 to 1984, Mr Fassi Fihri taught at the University of Paris VII (micro economy), then he was research officer at the French Institute for International Relations (IFRI).

In June 1986, Mr Fassi Fihri was a head of department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation in charge of relations with the European Community. In this capacity, he took part in different negotiations on the relations between Morocco and the European Economic Community.

In November 1989, Mr Fassi Fihri was appointed Head of the Office of the Minister in Charge of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation. In November 1993, he was nominated by the late His Majesty Hassan II Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation.

Mr Fassi Fihri was appointed on March 16, 1998 Chargé de Mission at the Royal Office. On November 25, 1999, he held the post of Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs. On September 6, 2000, he was nominated Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation.

On July 4, 2002, His Majesty the King nominated him as unique coordinator, official and interlocutor with the American authorities regarding negotiations on the free trade agreement between Morocco and the United States.

On November 7, 2002, he was nominated by His Majesty the King Minister Delegate for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation.
