New members of the CNDH: New horizon for human rights based on moral commitment and legal responsibility

The National Human Rights Council (CNDH) held a reception in honor of the new members of the General Assembly of the CNDH on Tuesday 23 July 2019. Those members were selected and appointed in accordance with the provisions of the Law No. 76.15 on the reorganization of the CNDH.

On this occasion, Mrs. Amina Bouayach, CNDH Chairperson, paid tribute to the former members who have contributed to the development of the Council since its establishment in 1990 which enabled the Council to function in line with the Paris Principles and, thus be accredited as an “A” status by the Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions (GANHRI).

Further, Mrs. Bouayach stressed the need to continue the development of the CNDH actions based on moral commitment and daily actions to support the victims of violations. She also shed lights on the importance of developing methods of interventions and means of work, in such a way as to entrench the rule of law.

The new membership of the Council, which constitutes a new horizon for human rights, represents intellectual and social pluralism, as well as cultural, linguistic and territorial diversity. This promotes positive accumulation and creates qualitative evolution in support for irreversible choices to ensure the universality and indivisibility of human rights. It also represents the integration of the gender approach, as women account for 35% of the total members.
